Lorene Minter Mattox, 81, formerly of Martinsville and currently a resident of Stanleytown Health Care Center, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born on June 22, 1929, in Draper, NC to James Boyd Minter and Daisy Minter.
She was a graduate of Draper High School and Perry Business School and was secretary of Henry County ASC Office for 35 years. She was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist where she was a member of the choir and WMU. She also served as Church Clerk and Sunday school Teacher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Mattox, one sister, Hazel Irene Minter and one brother, J. Clyde Minter
She is survived by two daughters, Loretta Robertson and Norma Stone of Martinsville, one son, Randy Mattox of Eden, NC, one sister, Helen M. Naff of Bassett, one brother, J. Melvin Minter of Chesapeake, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Starling Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. David Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM prior to service on Saturday, and other times at the home of her daughter, Norma Stone, 103 Elder Court in Martinsville.
