Joseph Ansel Magruder Jr.

Joseph Ansel Magruder, Jr, 85, of Martinsville, VA passed away Tuesday May 28, 2019. He was born December 15, 1933 to Joseph A. and Ruth Jayne Magruder in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter Ann Marie and sister Jayne Beaty.

He served 4 years in the Navy - Naval Aviation. After graduating from Western Kentucky University, he worked 33 years for Henry County Schools.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Iris Webb Magruder; daughter Elizabeth Mae Magruder of Graham, NC; son Joseph A. Magruder III and wife Jennifer of Salem, VA; grandchildren Brendan, Connor and Rebecca Magruder of Salem, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday June 1, 2019 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Friday May 31 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville. Burial will be held at Roselawn Burial Park following the funeral.
