John M. Richardson, Jr. (John), 90, of Martinsville, Virginia entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. John was born in Martinsville, VA. He was the son of the late John M. Richardson, Sr and the late Rebecca Martin Richardson. He married his love of his life and sweetheart, Doris Richardson of Martinsville, VA. John served in the U.S. Army. John was County Administrator of Henry, York and Accomack Counties from 1976 to 1995, served in many managerial and leadership positions in many different companies and as a contractor for VRAIN Corporation. John graduated from Martinsville High School and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was a past President of Mount Olivet Ruritan Club and President of Virginia State Exchange Club and volunteered at Grace Network. John’s retirement years were full of experiences with his family, friends, neighbors, church, time with his wife, and enjoying his family. John is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, David Richardson and Sandy of Martinsville; Robby and wife Lisa of Yorktown, Ron Speakman, Jr. and wife Cathy of Marietta, Ga., Alan of Collinsville and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Jason Speakman and a sister, Becky Greer. The family wishes to thank the doctors and caregivers at SOVAH hospital and ICU caregivers, Dr. O’Neil, Dr. O’Connell, Dr. Parikh, Dani, Hope, James, Lessie, Sean, Angela, Hayes. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ridgeway, Va. with Reverend Randy Aldridge, Reverend Doug Ramsey and Reverend Steve Doby officiating. The Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard will perform Military Honors. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to be made to Hillcrest Baptist Baptist Church, Ridgeway, VA and/or Grace Network. Arrangements are by McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville, VA.
