Hattie Haynes Strait

Hattie Haynes Strait, 91, of Clearview Drive in Martinsville, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. She was born in Martinsville, September 22, 1920 to Robert L. and Clyde Haynes. Hattie was employed by the former “Cousins” store in Martinsville for 35 years. She was a member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church and also the Senior Adult Sunday School class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Strait, Sr., one sister, Doris Wheaton; two brothers, George and Richard Haynes.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Jennings of Cana, VA; two sons, Robert L. Strait of Bonita Springs, FL and Paul Stephen Strait, Jr. of Portsmouth, VA; one sister, Marguerite Thompson of Martinsville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Doris Mabe.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with Dr. Michael Hatfield officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
