Gravely Clark Hankins Jr.

Gravely Clark Hankins, Jr., 89, of Axton, died Thursday May 1, 2014, at the Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville. He was born in Henry County on March 8, 1925, to the late Gravely Clark Hankins, Sr., and Edna Martin Hankins. Gravely served in the United States Army during World War II and was retired from Farming and Logging which he did most of his life. Gravely was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Essie G. Hankins, two sons, Glenn and Engle Hankins; sister, Frances Rogers; brothers; Harvey Engle, Richard and Rufus Hankins and a granddaughter; Michelle Joyce. Surviving are one daughter, Robin Hankins Wright of Martinsville, four sons; Ronnie Lee Hankins, Phillip W. Hankins and Ricky A. Hankins all of Axton and Eugene Hankins of Meadows of Dan, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday May 4, 2014 in the McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Hankins Family Cemetery in Axton. The family will receive friends 6-7 P.M. Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home of a granddaughter, Lisa Joyce at 4043 Mountain Valley Road, Axton.
