Gerald R Compton

Born in Henry County on August 31, 1941, he was a son of the late George J. Compton and Beulah Minter Compton. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Doris Cross and Betty Wike, and brothers, Ted Compton and Julian Compton.

Henry retired from the Interstate Brand Company (Merita) after 38 years of service and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Virginia A. Compton, his step-son, Albert William Grove Sr. of Axton, Grandson Albert William (Will) Grove Jr. of Rocky Mount, a brother, Joseph Earl Compton and wife Viola of Martinsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, October 4, 2013, in Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Mark Redd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville.
