Frances "Tye" Jane (Fitzpatrick) Martin

Beloved wife of Herman B. Martin, deceased. Loving mother of Francis B. Martin (Barbara) of Racine, WI and Giles H. Martin (Verna) of Axton, Va. Proud grandmother of Ginger Martin Ryback (Phil), Amy Lee Martin and Jeffrey Cassada (Rachel). She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren.

Frances had a nursing career spanning 43 years, beginning at Shackelford Hospital as an operating room nurse for John Shackelford. She also worked as a nurse at Martinsville General Hospital, Martinsville Memorial, and Martinsville Convalescent Home on Spruce Street.

She was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church for 64 years and was a member of the Bessie Barker Sunday school class.

Frances’s family wishes to thank all of the health care providers, staff, and the chaplain at King’s Grant for all of their loving care and allowing her to keep her independence all the way until the end. We also would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and a very special thank you for the care provided by Dr. Ben Lewis. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. G.H. Vaughan and the members of McCabe Church for all of their prayers, cards, and visits.

A small memorial service will be held at King’s Grant Chapel on April 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm, with a reception immediately following.
