Buddy was like a father to me at work sorry to hear about his passing please let me know if you need anything

 Buddy was an inspiration to all—family, friends, co-workers.  A quiet and calm demeanor, ready smile, and sly wit were his hallmarks.  He never met a stranger and would always take time to engage in conversation.  His  unwavering dedication to his community impacted the lives of so many. 
He will truly be missed.    Our most heart-felt condolences to all his family. 

Knew Buddy since I was a High School player at Bassett High . Worked with him at the Bassett Community Center for years as a HS and College student . His love and devotion to the BCC and the youngsters that play either football, baseball or basketball for him was second to none . Anyone that played for him knew he cared about them and wanted them to succeed there in athletics , but more so in the game of life. He taught those skills with a love for the game and a love for the youngsters . A great man that touched so many young lives  and for that we should all be grateful to have had Buddy Shelton in our lives , God bless his family and may they know how much we all loved him , Rest In Peace Buddy 🙏

Annette and Doug, You and your extended Family are in my thoughts and prayers during your time of loss.   Buddy was always such a pleasure to be around. So very sorry for your loss of Buddy. He was such a dear man. I worked with Buddy for many years at Bassett Walker. No matter your problem he would listen to you and get you an answer.  Even after BW, when I would see Buddy and his wife he always had a smile and would ask how I was and how was my friend, Judy. I will miss his smiling face. Praying for your family.

 There are people we meet in life that make a difference. Buddy Shelton helped make a difference in my life. I could go further to say, Buddy Shelton made a difference for Bassett. I’ve known Buddy since the age of 10. Today, I’m 68 and remember how Buddy Shelton & James Pedigo worked with the young males in the Bassett. They taught hundreds of young males over many years,  how to play Football, Basketball and Baseball before arriving at the high school level. But there was more than just sports. Buddy wasn’t just a coach, who’s sole purpose was to win. Buddy did care about winning but he cared more about each person. He cared because he gave everyone his time and attention. He emphasized  establishing life values at that early age. Little did we know or understand life lessons. But playing we experienced both winning and losing . In sports you learn a lot about life. We never win every game and we all will experience a setback or a defeat in life. It’s how you handle that win or loss that counts. Buddy did more than just coach. Buddy taught us teamwork, respect, humility, purpose while having fun at the same time. Buddy could be defined as a hero. A selfless good person who gets the undivided attention of many and causes a change. 





Buddy had a positive impact on my life.  He was my coach at the Bassett Community Center (60 years ago) and I still remember his calm demeanor and positive attitude.  Later in life, Buddy helped me get a position at Bassett-Walker.  He was a great man and someone that we looked up to and talked about in a positive way.  I know he is in heaven looking down on us now and still 'coaching' us to be positive and live a good life.

I am so very sorry to hear of Buddy's passing.  Mom and I were talking and wondering how he was and received the call from First Baptist saying he had passed away.  He was such a caring, loving and Christian man.  You both have been very special friends to everyone.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
