"Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night" or negative postal attitudes would stay Donald Walker from being the Most Outstanding Postal Worker and Gentleman Above all in service! A memorial statue or marker in front of the downtown Martinsville Post Office building would barely be adequate. Thank you Donald. You will be missed. Jim McMillan

It’s been 50 years since I worked uptown and saw Donald and JP on my daily trips to the post office. I hope there are still folks out there who remember the laughter and antics those two characters shared every day. The many times I’ve seen him since he always remembered my name. Saw him a few weeks ago waiting for his wife while she got her hair done. Same old Donald. Always making me laugh. RIP old friend. 

My sincere condolences to Mr. Walker, a nice gentleman and a great father. His son Alex and I were best friends. Mr. and Mrs. Walker always welcomed me in there home. I enjoyed a lot of memories at there home playing football,camping, as well as all the neighborhood children did.

As a postmaster, so many people knew him. I only met him a few times, but I’ve known Charlene and her family for many years. The times I saw Mr. Walker, he was friendly and funny and helpful. I want to express my condolences to the family. Thinking of you all.

I am so sorry for your loss.  However we rejoice with you that Don is in the arms of Jesus and we will see him again.
I have so many fond memories of time spent every day with your dear family during our childhood and school years together.
You guys did so much for our family and I always felt Gladys and Don were a other set of parents to us just like Charlene Donna and Alex were siblings to us 3.
I never saw Don that he didn't have a big smile on his face and a big hug too.
He will truly be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
