Dewey Hampton Price, 95, of Blue Ridge Manor in Martinsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. He was born on September 6, 1920 in Rockingham County, NC. to Dewey Chase Price and Ethel Rakestraw Price. He grew up on Oak Grove Farm and graduated from Stoneville High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal S. Price; three brothers, Paul Price of Martinsville, D.C. Price of Winston-Salem, N.C., Calvin Price of Mayodan, N.C. and a grandson, Brian Scott Price of Collinsville, VA.
He is survived by a son, Aubrey Price and wife Judy Ramsey Price of Collinsville; a grandson, the Very Reverend David R. Price of Colorado Springs, CO and a brother, George Price of Carolina Shores, N.C.
After defense work on dry dock reconstruction in Pearl Harbor and munitions production in Norfolk he moved to the Martinsville area where he was employed briefly at Trent Furniture in Bassett. He moved to DuPont of Martinsville where he worked as a maintenance craftsman for 29 years until his retirement.
He was a founding member of the Villa Heights Baptist Church and served in a variety of positions there over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Villa Heights Baptist Church, 150 Corse Ave. Martinsville, VA 24112.

A private service for family members was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 which Reverend Keith Spangenberg officiated. Interment was at Roselawn Burial Park.
