Dennis Eugene “Pockets” Cannaday, Sr., 61, of 621 Forest Street, Martinsville, died Monday, August 23, 2010 at Memorial Hospital Martinsville-Henry Co. He was born in Henry Co on August 21, 1949 to Aaron and Christine LaPrade Cannaday of Martinsville. He served in the United States Army, employed with VFW Knitwear as Manager in the Finishing Department and also worked for Forest Park Country Club. He was a member of AMVETS post 35 and the Eagles Club. He also was of the Baptist Faith and attended the Fairview Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of thirty two years, Vickie Taylor Cannaday of the home, four sons, Dennis Cannaday, Jr. Roanoke, Josh Cannaday, Jonathan Allen and Nicholas Taylor all of the home, one grandchild, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 in the Collins-McKee-Stone Martinsville Chapel with Reverend Mike Dyer officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6-7-p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 in the Collins-McKee-Stone, Martinsville Chapel and other times at the home on Forest Street, Martinsville.
