In loving memory of Willie White, Jr. who died on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. In all of his battles, his faith in Jehovah, paradise on earth, and the resurrection was a source of comfort and strength that he shared with others, including his doctors, nurses, and therapist.
Willie was born in Marvell, AR on October 28, 1941, to the late Willie, Sr. and Mildrige White. He was the oldest of three children, Joe Willie White and Cremolia Reed who preceded him in death.
On April 17, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Gussie Beatrice. They had an outstanding example of true love between a husband and wife for over 62 years. During this union he became father to three children: Anthony Quinn White of Marvell, Ark., Monica White of Martinsburg, WV, and April Senora Kotey (Ishmael) of Falling Waters, WV. He became a father to his daughter-in-law Vickie Johnson of San Jacinto, CA. Willie was a loving grandfather to: Miriam Boadi (Isaac), Caleb Kotey, Rebecca Kotey, Fa’Elva White. His oldest grandson Anthony Quinn, Jr preceded him in death. His great grandchildren include: Amirah White, Isaac Boadi, Jr., Chief Boadi, and Akua Boadi. The good memories made will last a lifetime as we reflect on the loving husband, father, and grandfather he became over the years.
Willie dedicated his life to Jehovah in water baptism on June 16, 1974, with the Burnside Congregation in Chicago, IL. He enjoyed serving as a congregation elder for many years. In September 1986 he joined his wife as a Regular Pioneer, which is a fulltime minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He devoted many hours to preaching and teaching, over 37 years as a pioneer after being able to retire from his secular job at the age of forty-seven. Willie knew Jehovah would always provide. He was known for his street witnessing in the early mornings and ending his day in evening witnessing, using a flashlight to see the addresses. The ministry brought him tremendous joy. With Jehovah’s help he had the privilege to aid several honest-hearted people to baptism and serve where the need was greater in Harvey, IL and Springfield, Va.
He enjoyed barbecuing, playing basketball and softball, traveling with his family, singing, dancing, and time with his family, friends, and spiritual children over the years. His house was open to all and anyone in need.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory two nephews: Ricky and Lamont Reed of Chicago, IL; His cousins who are like siblings: Jewell Sanders, Mozella Anderson, Ernice Henderson, Earlene Gantt-Marcus, and Charles Sanders.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife’s family he loved all his nieces and nephews, and wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law. He enjoyed all his hugs and kisses over the years. This is something the Carruth family loves to do when we get together.
