Rosa Lee Shanton

Born on February 29, 1936 in Shepherdstown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Fannie Washington.

Rosa Lee was Valedictorian of her class at Paige Jackson High School. She became an LPN and worked for over twenty years at Kings Daughters Hospital.

She was a lifetime member Saint John Baptist Church where she held many roles throughout the years. Rosa Lee loved the Lord and her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children: Scarlett Shanton, Gail Roxanne Shanton, Vincent Shanton and his wife, Janice, Bruce Shanton and his wife, Consuelo, Regina Edwards and her husband, Yates, Gregory Damon Shanton and his wife, Michelle, Margaret Rice and her husband, Andre, and Todd Shanton and his wife, Missy; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty Washington, Patricia Harrison, Eleanor Braxton, Wanda Brown, and Thomas Washington Jr; bonus daughters: Barbara Scott and Althea Williams; bonus sons: CJ Brown and Robert Disney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman G. Shanton; son, Carlton Q. Shanton; grandson, Quincy Shanton; and sisters: Anna Hall, Mary Brown, Joan Williams, and Virginia Brown.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 6-8pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
