Robert “Bob” Wendell Leeson passed away on March 25th, 2022. His celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 2:00pm at Hedges Chapel, 668 Mountain Lake Road, Hedgesville, WV 25427. A reception will follow the service.
Bob was born on August 13th, 1940 in Logan, West Virginia to Gene and Virginia Leeson. He worked successfully in sales for many years and ended his career as President of Sauer Compressors in Maryland. In between some of his career paths, he was also a cowboy and a lobster fisherman off the coast of New Jersey. In his retirement, he met and married Susan Pleinis. Over the past 10+ years, Bob and Susan have traveled the world and enjoyed adventures in Iceland, New Zealand, Italy, Portugal, and Tahiti, just to name a few. One of their favorites was caring for the elephants in Thailand, which was not one of the planned itineraries, but ended up being a passion for the two of them.
Bob loved being a father and had a total of seven children that he helped to raise. For Bob, it never mattered whether it was his biological child or a child he chose to make part of his life. That was one of the most remarkable things about him.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Pleinis, daughter Traci (Grant) Leeson Hickman, Wynn (Mia) Wilson, Jennifer (Rick) Gay, Susan Coles, Andy (Dawn) Gay, Jennifer (Dave) McKathan, and Kelly (Wes) Scrifres, and additional family Lisa (Ron) Rakowski, Debra (Craig) Capella, and Manda (Ross) Hobbs. He is also survived by his nephews and several grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Hospital in Bob’s honor.
