Born September 03, 1957 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia he was the son of the late Melvin B. Lucas and Daisy (Bayer) Lucas.
He was a long standing member of Second Baptist Church. After graduation from James Rumsey Technical Institute, Hedgesville, he devoted his career to working in the Information Technology field as a computer programmer analyst, and Project Manager. He was passionate about his work and proud to serve his contracted clients while working for Fairchild, the U.S. Coast Guard, and BAE Systems. Later in his career, Rick worked as a driving instructor for the WV Department of Motor Vehicles.
Rick loved spending time with his family, antiquing, and going out to eat. He was an avid arborist and animal lover.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Debra “Debbie” Lucas; daughters: Jessica Lucas-Hartman and Kelly Atkinson; grandson, Lucas Jude Hartman; brother, Bob Lucas and sister-in-law Judy; brothers-in-laws: Tom Ross and Cheryl, Kevin Ross and Leanne, David Ross and Marie, Mike Kercheval and Kim, Phil Vaden and Daryl, Jason Hicks and Christi; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rick will be remembered as a thoughtful, giving, loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather (Papi). He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial services will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project or to the Berkeley County Humane Society.
