Born on June 23, 1938 in Morgan County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Emma Bohrer.
She was the longest serving member of Johnsontown Bible Church where she faithfully attended and had taught Sunday School Classes during earlier years. She was also a member of Tomahawk Ruritan Club.
Phyllis attended public school in Berkeley County and earned her GED from James Rumsey in 1979.
She was a devout Christian lady who loved the Lord and had an influence on many lives and family members. Phyllis loved the ocean, especially Ocean City, Outer Banks, and Myrtle Beach. Each summer Phyllis and Robert would spend time in the mountains of West Virginia enjoying Southern Gospel and Blue Grass Music concerts. She also enjoyed family gatherings for food and fellowship, she was a magnificent cook.
Phyllis retired from 3M Co and worked in Public Housing Management and Preschool Child Care before becoming a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert D. “Mike” Michael; son, Wesley L. James of Martinsburg; daughter, Kimberly A. James-Redman of Hedgesville; step-daughter, Marcella F. Crabbs (Fred) of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Miller of Martinsburg; brothers: Roger and David Bohrer of Martinsburg and Gary Bohrer of Gerrardstown; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Opal Kelly, Glenna Laing, Naomi Fisher, Mary Ann Byers, and Helen Tobin; and her brothers: Ernest, Winton, Stanley, and Edgar “Ed” Bohrer.
Friends and family will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12th from 6-8pm and on Thursday, July 13th from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
