Husband, Father, Crane Operator, Drag Racer, Farmer.
On Sunday, September 24, 2023, Michael William Hartley lost his long battle with critical lung disease.
Michael or Hammer to his friends, was a member of the National Commission for Certification of Crane Operators for nearly 30 years. He was one of the few operators certified in the continental United States. Working in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C., the world will always bare his mark as more than half the buildings in DC stand on the iron he placed. One of the final buildings he laid iron in was the Gaylord at National Harbor. Hammer has helped build our world and our hearts. As a crane operator he has helped humanity reach new heights; as a man he showed us how to live, and love.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife, Karen; his children: Debra Hartley-Timbrooke, Tony Hartley and wife Jessica, Brandy Hogan, Nicole Hogan, and Tink and Lady who stayed right by his side; his siblings: Fred Hartley and wife Carla, Lorrie Kelley with late husband Frank, and Wayne Hartley and wife Tina; and grandchildren: Triston and Trenton Timbrooke, Nick and Nate Manco and Lilly Hartley.
Michael also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and his loving family at AIW. We are thankful for the doctors, nurses and Hospice for all their support through this. Michael had many people praying for him and supporting through this illness and he cherished all thoughts and prayers.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Rosedale Funeral Home from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
