Joseph Gregory Moran, 21 of Martinsburg West Virginia passed away on August 18, 2022. Joe was born November 1, 2000 to Reagan Abdul and Jose Moran in Oceanside California. Joe spent his early years surrounded by friends and family in Martinsburg where he attended elementary, middle and high school.
Beginning at a very early age Joe showed an incredible drive to push himself against all challenges and obstacles in life. With such a strong aspiration for personal growth and social connectivity Joe joined many clubs and extracurricular activities, like chess club and Young Life. He had an ear for Jazz during middle school and friends will recall the great times they spent in band together and the admiration they held for Joe’s natural talent.
Joe’s ambitious spirit continued throughout high school where he joined football, lacrosse and ran track to keep himself physically active and involved. He trained so very hard with such an inspiring attitude. His involvement in Young Life flourished and he found great comfort and dedication to the mission of the organization and with those he grew close to.
Joe graduated Summa Cum Laude from Martinsburg High School with a Diversity
Scholarship, Promise Scholarship and a Scholarship of Distinction. After High School Joe
attended West Virginia University majoring in Biology. He always had his heart set on becoming
a healthcare professional. When covid hit, Joe decided a fast track into the healthcare field was
needed.
Joe enlisted with the U.S.Army on September 22, 2020 to become a Combat Medic. He went to
Fort Leonard for Basic Training, then completed the 68W Combat Medic Training. Soon After
Joe was stationed at the 247th Medical Detachment Field Hospital, Fort Bliss, Tx
While it is truly impossible to capture the true and radiant essence of Joe, it must be said that this beautiful soul had an incredible positive impact in this world and especially to each person he met. The genuine care he showed those around him uplifted the spirits and hope of so many friends and family. His hysterical goofy nature brought out the best in those around him. The power of his gleaming smile will stay with us throughout time and space.
Joe is survived by his parents Reagan Abdul and Jose Moran, his siblings Kamaya, Juleka and Abigail, grandparents, Gail and Ken Evans and Blanca and Albert Moran and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joe’s family is asking to please make donations to the Stop Soldier Suicide Organization in Joe’s memory and to support the organization’s efforts at ending the prevalence of suicide within Active Military and our Veterans.
