James Henry Jones, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Martinsburg High School. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1954 to 1957. He was a graduate of the Ordinance Automotive School, Atlanta, GA. Jim was a dairy farmer for many years. Later in life, he was employed at General Motors, retiring in 1998. Jim was highly active in his community in his younger years. He was a lifelong member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church, holding many offices during his membership. He was a former Gideon and loved sharing the word of God. Jim was also a member of the National Tractor Pull Association and pulled in many tractor pulls at the Berkeley and Jefferson County Youth Fairs. He was also an avid antique tractor collector, which he enjoyed restoring with friends and family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, David T. and Helen M. Mitchell Jones; one son, Robert “Bobby” Jones and one daughter, Debra “Debi” Jones Mascia; one sister, Ellen Grubbs; and brothers David, Philip, and John. Jim is survived by his wife, Cora M. LeMaster Jones; brother, Robert Jones; son in law Robert Mascia of Uniontown, PA; children Susan (Rob) Claxton of Martinsburg, Kathy (Brian) Parrill of Westminster, SC, and Mark Jones of Atlanta GA; Grandchildren Robbie Jones of Charles Town, Julianna Mascia of Greensburg, PA, Lauren Parrill of St. Petersburg, FL, and Lindsey (Dustin) Sefried of Rochester, MN; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering for friends and family will be held on Thursday August 12 at 2pm with a Celebration of Life following at 3pm at the Rosedale Funeral home in Martinsburg with Pastor John Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Donations be sent to Marvin Chapel UMC-PO Box 872, Martinsburg, WV 25402.
