Born November 17, 1924, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Allen Biedler and Hazel Bemis Biedler Flynn.
He attended local schools and graduated from Martinsburg High School Class of 1942, where besides being a member of the marching band he was an avid tennis player on the school tennis team for all 4 years.
During World War II, he served in the Air Force and worked as a mechanic on B-24 and B-29
bombers.
As a youngster, he was a Washington Post delivery boy under the late Nelson Clark. He also was employed at J.C. Penney Co., Berkeley Woolen Co. as a weaver, at Fairchild, and at Emery Bus Lines. He attended Nashville Auto Diesel College.
Mr. Biedler learned the electric motor trade under Floyd Files of Industrial Electric Motor Repair. In November, 1950, Biedler Electric Motor Repair was started and in 1989 the business was incorporated with his son, Russell.
Biedler was a faithful long-time member of the Independent Bible Church where he served as a deacon, head usher, a member of the Finance Committee, and deacon emeritus. He was a charter member of the Berkeley County Police Reserve and served with the group for 24 years with 17 years of that time as Chief. He was also a member of the Norwalk Antique Car Club and the Ford Cabriolet Club of America.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Lee James Biedler, whom he married on May 15, 1949, one son, Russell (Rusty) and wife, Cynthia, of Gerrardstown, one daughter, Mary Beth Rotz and husband, Terry, of Mililani, Hawaii, six grandchildren, Philip, Paul and Mark Biedler and Benjamin, James and Joshua Rotz, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at Independent Bible Church on Saturday, March 30 at 12:30 pm with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating and Rev. Curtis Lowry assisting. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Independent Bible Church Building Fund, 2306 Hedgesville Road, Martinsburg, WV 25403.
