Born November 8, 1926 in Geneva, New York she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Marsh and Anna Elizabeth Welch Marsh. Throughout her school years, Evelyn lived in Geneva, New York and graduated from St. Frances School in 1944.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of fifty six years Robert (Bob) James Armstrong and by her son Richard Charles Armstrong.
She is survived by her son Robert James Armstrong Jr., her daughter Christine Marie Armstrong Mullen (Robert); and one grandson Jesse Orion Gordon.
Her husband Bob was the love of her life. Together they traveled all over the world, be it by airplane, ocean liner, river boat or a bus tour.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her many interests included knitting, crocheting, hooking rugs, crossword, jig saw puzzles and was an active bridge player until age 94. In her earlier years she enjoyed golfing and skiing with the whole family. She was also an avid reader who still requested library books, even when she could no longer read them. She had a sparkling and joyous personality who enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Evelyn was selected by the Potomac Community Library as the recipient for both the 1998 MD Congressional and the 1998 MD Senatorial Volunteer of the year Awards. She was proud to have volunteered time alongside the library staff for many years.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg on September 3, 2022 at 9:30 am till the time of the start of the Memorial Service at 10:30 am.
