On the morning of November 11, 2018, at the age of 66 years, Dennis Ray Harrison of Gerrardstown, WV went home to the Lord. Born July 22, 1952 in Martinsburg, WV, Dennis was the son of the late William F. Harrison and Frances J. (Murphy) Harrison. He was a graduate of Charles Town High School, class of 1970. Dennis worked many years for Dixie Narco, , was a volunteer EMT with Citizens Fire Company of Charles Town, WV and finished his career with Verizon Phone Company in Leesburg, VA
A exceptionally talented man, Dennis was a photographer, carpenter, sculptor, sketch artist, painter, and above all else, a musician. A member of many bands, his first was Freshly Ground which included his two older brothers and two friends. Throughout his life, he loved to sing with his daughters, Amy and Danielle. Dennis was a Civil War reenactor for many years with his daughter, Danielle and good friend Ron Rissler and also worked as an extra on the TV series The Men Who Built America and the film Moving Mountains.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Amy Puetz and her husband Jeff of Inwood, his daughter, Danielle Moore and her husband Sean of Martinsburg, his former wife, Nancy Harrison of Charles Town, his sister-in-law, Patty Harrison of Charles Town, his sister-in-law, Caroline Harrison of Barboursville, WV, grandchildren Caylee, Shelby, Breana, and Garrett Puetz and Josephine, Shaelyn, and Hayes Moore, great granddaughter Nevaeh Puetz, his aunt Wanda Files, several nieces and nephews, and longtime caregiver and friend Debbie Moreland.
In addition to his mother and father, Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers Curtis, Doug, and Darren Harrison.
Family will receive friends at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV on the evening of Tuesday, November 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for a memorial service officiated by Pastor Rich Miller of Crosspointe Church of God. Music to be performed by his nephew William Douglas “Dougie” Harrison, Jr., playing Dennis’ favorite gospel, “It Is Well With My Soul” and civil war medley, “Ashokan Farewell”.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter.
