Brenda Young

Martinsburg and formerly of Hagerstown,

Maryland passed away on Sunday February 23, 2020 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

She was born on April 7, 1950 in Hagerstown, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Lowell (Bud) Day and Wanda M Day.

Brenda graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1968 and went on to work for the Maryland Department of Parole and Probation DDMP and retired with 25 years of service.

She was a special sunflower who loved watching birds at her bird feeders. She especially loved her hummingbirds, and loved planting and nurturing inside and outside plants and flowers. She also loved spending time with her family and her long phone calls from her brothers in Tennessee. She had a sense of humor that she kept till the end.

Brenda is survived by her son Randy L. Barnhart and wife Michele, daughter Heidi L. Schmoyer and husband Patrick; brothers: Craig Day and wife Jean, Duane Day, Ronnie Day and wife Karen; granddaughter: LeAnna Barnhart; grandsons: Tony Harvey and wife Korinne and Andrew Rankin and fiancé Toni Morgan; great-granddaughters Tahkodha Denton and Lakai Harvey; many nieces and nephews and her fur babies Libby, Chaz, and Peanut

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday March 2, 2020 at Rosedale Funeral Home from 2-4 pm.

The family would like to thank all the doctors that treated Brenda at Johns Hopkins, and give a special thank you to Lillian from Hospice of The Panhandle for all the comfort she brought to Brenda.
