Angelia Gayle Shanholtz, 72 of Hedgesville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Angie was born August 26, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a loving mother to her strong, caring daughters, a passionate nana to her precious grandchildren, and a devoted wife to her husband Larry “Skip” Shanholtz for 50 years. Together they enjoyed traveling to Colorado, site-sightseeing, and spending time with family and friends. Angie had a love for nature, birds, and quilting, in addition to being an avid softball player for many years. She passed on her passion for these hobbies to her daughters. Everyone who knows her daughters knew Angie as mom. She nurtured them to be loving, dedicated, and caring mothers like herself. Angie was an admirable and compassionate nurse for 40 years and shared her affectionate nature with everyone around her. Angie never met a stranger and cared deeply for her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her late father, Cleophus Hart, her late mother, Mildred (Coberly) Hottle and her stepfather Don Hottle. Angie is survived by her husband Larry “Skip” Shanholtz and her five daughters, Erin Jacobi, Brandi Collis (Leonard), Stacey Shanholtz (Bridget), Laurel Howard (Thomas), and Megan Allen (Nicholas) as well as two sisters, two brothers, 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Angie on September 30, 2023, at Airborne Church in Martinsburg, WV. The family will receive visitors from 4-5pm. Services will begin at 5pm. The family request that attendees wear colorful attire instead of black due to Angie’s love of flowers.
