The world brightened on July 23, 1934, when Tomie’s birth graced this world. Ever-loving and always putting others first, was how she lived. She met and married the love of her life in October, 1961.
Tomie arrived in the United States in January, 1963. Her strength and ever-loving devotion was unmatched. While caring for her young family, she studied hard, learned a new language, and earned her Naturalization as a US Citizen in February, 1974. She prided herself everyday on that life-altering accomplishment.
Tomie worked hard her entire life as a waitress, then seamstress, until her husband passed. In her retirement, she devoted her time and volunteered with local hospitals and other opportunities that arose. This was just an example of how she always put others first. She also prepared countless meals for the Japanese golfing contingent and Tokyo Broadcasting System for several Master's golf tournaments, which she continued until her health became more fragile. Dedicated to her beliefs, Tomie remained active in her religious activities her entire life. Her faith never waived, and carried her through the hardships that she faced throughout her 86 years.
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo
Words do not exist to describe her inner and outer beauty. Despite her small frame, she was a giant wherever she was. She touched the lives and souls of everyone she met. She was one of those people that no matter where she went, people knew and loved her, whether it was working, volunteering, mall-walking, line dancing, or playing bingo. Immediately recognizable, she was often greeted as soon as she arrived, no matter where she was.
On January 28, 2021, this world lost one of its brightest lights as she joined her beloved husband, where she now shines brightly.
