Thomas “Tom” Earl Davis, 92, passed away on June 19th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home. Thomas was born on August 19th, 1931, in Utica, Kentucky. Later relocating to Jacksonville, Florida where he resided for 65 years.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret A. Davis, and three siblings.
He is also survived by his children, Janet Pevy, Margaret Wilson, Roy Pevy, Sharon Horton, and Karen Chandler. Also, he had 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; he also leaves behind his siblings, Paul Haley, Dot Moore and Ruth Dufriese. Their memories of him will be cherished and his legacy will live on in their hearts.
Tom’s life was marked by service and dedication. He proudly served his country in the US Army and had a long career with the Internal Revenue Service. However, his true passion lay in serving his community. He dedicated his time as a Big Brother for the Big Brother Big Sister organization of Northeast Florida. He mentored countless young men volunteering with the Boy Scouts and faithfully served as Treasurer and Deacon for Cedar Bay Baptist Church, where he worshipped for 35 years. He had a special affection for teaching children, whether imparting survival skills and crafts in the Boy Scouts or sharing camping adventures with his children and grandchildren, he reveled in sharing the love of God and the wonder of nature.
In his leisure time, Tom pursued his passions with enthusiasm. He enjoyed quiet moments at home, meticulously collecting coins and stamps, and capturing the beauty of his travels across the country through photography. His home was a warm haven always open to family and friends, where his boundless generosity and kindness touched everyone who entered.
Tom often reflected on his life with gratitude, feeling blessed by God with a long and meaningful journey that allowed him to touch so many lives. While his family mourns his passing, they also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and find solace that Tom has found peace in his eternal home in heaven.
