Mr. Detwiler served in the U.S. Navy and was a business owner in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a first responder and fire chief of the Leah Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Mr. Detwiler was a master machinist by trade. His love of music kept him wanting to learn more instruments from the organ, guitar, violin, accordion, etc. He loved to read sci-fi books, collecting trains, fire trucks, ships and model cars.
Mr. Detwiler is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Eilleen Marilyn Detwiler; father, Lloyd James Detwiler Sr.; mother, Florence Brady Detwiler; brother, Donald Detwiler; son, David Lynn Detwiler and great-granddaughter, River Sivanne Sunderman. Survivors include his grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Lanier, Gretchen (Craig Sunderman) Detwiler and Adam (Amber) Detwiler; daughter-in-law and loving care taker, Jo Ann Detwiler; great-grandchildren, Alysia Sunderman, Savannah Lanier, Trillian Sunderman, Logan Sunderman, Aubree Detwiler and Levi Detwiler.; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Columbia Rd. Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
