Dear Kay
So sad saying goodbye to you today, but memories of my time spent as part of your family during my teenage years will live with me forever. 
You were my second mother and your house was my second home for several years. 
I remember the special times I spent with you in recent years also - with true fondness. Thank you for your friendship xx

Doing what she loved to do, laying in the sun.

A lovely friend and neighbour for over forty years. Our families grew up together and are still friends. We spent many social occasions with Kay and Earl and we will always remember them as the good times. When Kay left Ipswich and returned to live in the States we were always pleased to see her when she returned on special occasions such as Thanksgiving and July 4th when we would be invited to celebrate with the family. Our thoughts and love are with the Hicks family as Kay will be greatly missed as a loving Mother, Grandmother,Great Grandmother and by all the friends whose lives she touched. Thank you Kay for all the Good Times

My friend , my mum -in-law, in my life since I was 16 and came to look on me as one of  her own . 
A strong woman who faced many challenges when she married My father -in-law , breaking boundaries in society and pathing the way with love for their children and generations to follow. 
Devoting her life to being a mum , until the roles reversed and we all took our turn in looking after her . That wasn't always an easy task ,  but was what we needed to give 
back as her family and we did it 
with love and respect.

I remember going to nanny’s at Christmas and unwrapping a box inside a box inside a box etc to get to one present I also remember nanny telling us grandchildren off for eating raw spaghetti out of the spaghetti jar. 

You are now reunited with grandad dancing in the sky.

We first met Kay Hicks and the late Ret (Msgt ) Earl Hicks in 1971. They became my my parents away from home. In 1972 I met my wife and  they both became my parents away from home from Charlotte NC and my  from London England (Bridget) .We loved Earl and Kay. In 1975 they became the Godparents of my late son Richard and his younger brother Tremain. I will never forget them. All of their children became my young siblings We will always remember them as loving parents. Vernon,Bridget, Richard and Tremain. He also brought me in the Masonic Orger (PHA). He made me the man I am today.

Fond memories of the lovely lady in the big white house at the top of our road known in my youth as Auntie Kay as in those days your friends parents were known as Auntie and Uncle, latterly known as just Kay.
Fiercely committed to and proud of her family.
Finally reunited with her big E. Carry on having A.I.D and Thanksgiving Parties in heaven together.

Much loved much missed 

Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. I have know Kay since I was about 9 or 10, almost always. She was my mum’s friend and always part of the family. My mum and dad and Kay and Earl would always go out dancing on the weekend,. I grew up with the whole family in my life and always felt they were my extended family and Kay my second mum. When I moved to the States, Kay told me “dont take any wooden nickels from them buggars”. I have never fogotten that🤣🤣❤️ she will be missed by all. Rest in peace and love kay

Lovely lady. Lovely mother. My best mate’s mum, and my mother’s best mate. Reunited with her soulmate, Mr H;  her love, warmth and memory live on.
