Born and raised in Bowling Green, Virginia. He grew up on Edward’s Road or as the locals call it the backroad. He was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Union High School in 1968. At 18, he joined the army and experienced different parts of the US and other countries. He retired from the military in 1991 and soon after began working at the Augusta State Medical prison. In 2016 he retired from the medical prison and spent his time doing what he enjoyed.
He loved bowling, fishing, and going to the gun range. He always made it to the movies to watch the newest releases. He also enjoyed flying drones and model airplanes and was working on his hours to earn his pilot license.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Foster Sr. And Elizabeth Foster; siblings Carol Coghill and Taft Coghill Sr., Eric Foster Sr., and Robert Foster Sr. He is survived by his children Dantae Robertson, Kirstin Tatayon, Starr Foster; Grandchildren Ryan Robertson, Audrey Robertson, Raelynn Dudley; Sister-in-laws Gwendolyn Foster, Shelia Foster; nephew Alvin Coghill wife (Margaret), nephew Taft Coghill Jr (Talya), nephew Anthony Coghill (A’Dan).
