“Mitch” was an avid card player and golfer. He was a member of Midland Valley Country Club, The Patch and Green Meadows.
James is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-five years, Shannon H. Mitchell; daughter, Karen (Bill) Dwelley; step-daughter, BKay (Kirk) Herrington; step-son, Gregg (Tonnia) Powell; six precious grandchildren, Natalie, Krista, Mitch, Jeff, Beverly and Courtney; four great-grandchildren, Georgia Ann, Arch, Sophia and Evelyn; several nieces and nephews; and four-legged companions, Amber Rose and Katie.
Memorial services will be held 4:30 PM, Thursday, October 20, 2011 in the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the Mitchell family requests contributions be made to Trinity Hospice 2803 Wrightsboro Rd # 38, Augusta, GA 30909-3994 in James’ memory.
