Doris was born June 21, 1928 to Louis and Francis “Frannie” Greenberg in the Bronx, New York. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She generously gave of herself to her family and all those she loved.
At 16, Doris met Maurice Cohen, a friend of her brother’s. In time, the two fell in love and married in 1948. They went on to raise two children, Barry and Ginelle.
Doris enjoyed dancing, big band music, playing Bingo, shopping, and most of all, time with her family. She had a mischievous streak and loved to laugh and be playful. She was at her happiest with children, animals, and when she could care for those around her.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Maurice, mother Frances, father Louis, daughter Ginelle, brothers Lawrence, Stanley and Howard, and sister Wilma. She is survived by her son Barry Cohen (wife Ann), sister Shirley Kampf, grandchildren Joshua Cohen (wife Abbey), Kristen Coldiron (husband Lynn), Matthew Cohen (wife Haidee), Jeremy McDaniel, Corey McDaniel, Marissa McDaniel, and her many beloved great-grandchildren.
At the request of her family, Doris’ funeral and service will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please donate to either the ASPCA. Mrs. Cohen was proud of her Jewish heritage. If you wish, please donate to the Congregation Children of Israel in Augusta, GA.
