As a former member of Oakey Grove Baptist Church, Bernadette was family and loved by many. She had the voice of an angel and blessed  God and the congregation for many years with her worship.  She will be missed but certainly never forgotten.  Brother Marty, you and your family will continue to be in our prayers.     Love Always!

I met Bernadette and Marty at Colorado Community Church.  Bernadette exhibited her strong Christian faith in the midst of her personal health challenges.  The joy of the Lord was truly her strength. She was funny, feisty and lovable.  She loved old TV shows and chocolate.  Being with her and Marty was such a blessing. I could feel the love that they had for each other.  Now she is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. I miss you my friend. Marty you know that I am here for you. God bless!

I have had the opportunity to spend some time with Burnedett on Wednesdays.  She was always glad to see me, never complained, and always welcomed me with a smile.  Her favorite TV  shows  were In the heat of the night and game show channel. One thing she loved sharing with me was my popcorners and always ended it with a little Hershey  bar. Fungus was  her favorite! Marty always  brought her flowers and always greeted her when he came back home. I loved spending time with her and glad I had the opportunity. 

June 10th, 1996, without my knowledge, I met my best friend, lover, helpmate, and soulmate.  I walked into my training lab at the City of Augusta’s Information Technology department and there she was.  She was being shy around me and acted very distance.  After a week of training, she warmed up to me a little.  We would talk whenever we were on break together during the next few months.  And then she asked me out.
We went to Olive Garden for dinner, and she ordered eggplant parmigiana as her entrée!  I told her that if I am paying for the meal something dead would be on her plate.  She just smiled and ordered it!  This was the first time I had experienced her feisty personally. 
Bernadette booked a 3-day cruise for us, without my knowledge, and then told me about it.  I never had the desire to go on cruises, but I said ok.  A month before the cruise I told her that I did not want to go.  Well, that’s when I saw the outspoken side of her.  We had our first “active discussion” that I ended up losing.  About 2 months later when she told me she rebooked the cruise, she said “boy, you are getting your butt on the boat!”  We ended up going on 7 cruises together. Some months later I asked her to marry me and share her life with me.
We went to Pigeon Forge on July 31, 1998, for the weekend, which I thought, she was going shopping.  On Saturday morning after she took her shower she asked, “what do we have to do to get married while we’re here?”  I said I don’t know.  She said get on the phone and find out!  That afternoon, August 1st, 1998, we became Husband and Wife and started our journey of 23 year 5 months 27 days together.

Sending my condolences to Papa Lick and the entire family. Ms. Bernadette, a beautiful little lady with the biggest heart, was kind, sassy,  fashionable and she loved to sing. Most importantly, she loved the Lord and loved to serve others. Well done, good and faithful Servant.

She might of been a little lady but her heart was big. I remember one day she said to me remember you are blessed. Yes I was to have great neighbors and friends. There was always a smile on her face . Thank you for letting me be part of you life. 

Praise God!! My friend Bernadette is a praying woman, every time we get invited to their house for dinner we watch old movies, after that we worship, we get into the word of God, and we praise God just about all night until she got tired and says she's really for bed. LOVE FOR EVER

As we called her, she always had a beautiful positive word to share with our family.  Times, we would sit together at church while Marty did security. She loved to sing praises to the Lord. 
She will be missed. Thankful to have been a part of her life.


I had the greatest pleasure of meeting  Marty and Bernadette a little over a year ago. Marty and I both served together on our HOA board . We quickly became friends. Marty and Bernadette shared a love like no other. When you met them, you just knew they were soulmates. Bernadette will be greatly missed. Marty, we are here for you and Mogee for whatever you need.
