John was a proud graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore Maryland, class of 1963. After High School, John enrolled at Catonsville Community College before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1965 to serve his country during the Vietnam War. John was initially stationed in Germany before serving two tours in Vietnam as a Specialist for an Army Military Intelligence Unit. After serving his country proudly John received an honorable discharge and returned home to Maryland to marry his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Angie Amato in the summer of 1969. John was employed by Westinghouse and spent his days working hard in the company mail room while putting himself through college at night attending the University of Baltimore (UB). John graduated from UB in 1974 with a BA in Business Administration and Management. He quickly found his calling supporting various accounting, estimating and pricing departments at Westinghouse (subsequently Northrop Grumman) where he worked faithfully for over 42 years until he retired in 2010.
John enjoyed playing softball, bridge, bowling, and golfing. John also loved to travel and take cruises with a close group of friends. His energy and passion for being a loving father to his two sons and grandfather to his three grandchildren knew no bounds. John and Angie celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past June.
John will be missed dearly, and his memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness and compassion. John was truly a selfless man, a consummate gentleman from a previous era, a man who never hesitated to sacrifice for his family and would do anything to help his friends and neighbors.
John is survived by his loving wife, Angelina Taylor, his devoted sons, Christopher (Tracey) and Michael; his cherished grandchildren, Austin, Caden and Harper; and his treasured siblings, Jo Ann Lambert, Edgar Taylor and Mary Good.
