On April 13th Heaven gained a special angel, Zachary Bordelon, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and mentor. Zachary left us due to complications from the Covid-19 virus and was only 44 years young. He served a tremendous purpose on earth and was called home to Heaven leaving behind his beautiful wife, Suyapa, three loving children, Victoria, Isabella and Caleb. His ‘Best Momma in the World and his PaPa Bear, Tony and Marsha Bordelon. His mother in law, Victorina “Leta” Gonzalez whose cooking he will surely miss, his devoted sister Ashley “Nee Nee” Bordelon and his nephews, Landyn and Nathan Dufrene. He also leaves behind countless broken hearted Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, friends, extended family members, students, co workers past and present.
He is greeted in Heaven by his maternal grandmother, Betty “MeeMee/Gran” Butler and his high spirited father in law Francisco “Poncho” Gonzalez, his paternal grandmother Gert Bordelon, who surely had a plate of chicken fricassee for him and PawPaw John Bordelon who had a corny joke ready.
Zachary had recently joined the Archbishop Shaw family as the 8th and 9th grade English teacher and their Cross Country Coach. He retired from Arden Cahill Academy after 19 years where he taught 5th through 8th grade. Zachary, "Mr. B", as he was known to his students was a gentleman who possessed boundless enthusiasm, dedication and patience for each student he taught and coached.
Most knew Zachary as a teacher and coach, but his friends and family were lucky enough to know him as a dedicated husband, father, son, brother and true friend. His dedication to God, family, friends and all he came in contact with was remarkable. He was an outstanding Dance Dad, Baseball Dad, Cross Country Dad, Tik Tok Dad, rapper, dancer and jokester. He was always there and ready to help whenever and wherever needed. He will remain the most influential person in hundreds of children, friends and families lives.
We may never understand why God decided to call this wonderful soul home, but we know that his legacy will continue on for generations. We must all realize that our final destination is not here but with our God who has something more spectacular in Heaven. But rest assured the real estate value in Heaven just went up one thousand fold. (He is most probably there now with his “red” pen correcting all the grammatical errors!!) “ONE TO GET IT DONE, GO EAGLES!”
The Family welcomes donations in lieu of flowers.
