Yvonne Marie Cortez

Yvonne Marie Cortez passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her loving family on January 6th 2018 at the age of 78. Born June 18th 1939 to the late Lucien and Ethel Tassin in Napoleanville, Louisiana, Yvonne was a life-long resident of the West bank who recently moved to Folsom, Louisiana. Yvonne enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, watching the Saints play, and spending time at the casino. A dedicated employee of Jefferson Parish School System for 22 years as a cafeteria worker, Yvonne adored the time she spent with her grandchildren and family. Survived by her brother Lucien (Pat); sisters Shirley (Alfred) and Betty (Nofier); children, Ricky (Dawn), Jodie (Andrew), and Susan (Ashley); Grandchildren, Crystal, Tara, Tena, Brandy, Kelly, Edwin (Boo), Dayton, Brendon, Alexcia, and Kyleigh. Yvonne is also survived by one Great-Grandchild, Lil Edwin, and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Edwin J. Cortez Jr.; her Sisters Jeanette and Rosemary, son David (Chetta), and two grandchildren Ricki Lynn and Rachael. Family and friends are encouraged to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, January 10th, 2018 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be from 9:00am-1:00pm. All services will be held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home located at 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana
