Weldon ”Rod” Henry Rodrigue entered peacefully into heaven on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the age of 88 years old. Husband of the late Marie Cancienne Rodrigue. Loving father of Ann R. Perrin (Sidney), Jimmie P. Rodrigue (Valerie “Val”) and Joey H. Rodrigue. A proud grandfather of Tara P. Seilhan (Darryn) and Reed M. Perrin (Brittany). Step-grandfather of Toni Lukes and a great grandfather of Paisley Perrin. Son of the late Marie Leblanc Rodrigue and Joseph Rodrigue.
A native of Labadieville, Louisiana and a lifelong resident of Marrero, Louisiana.
“Rod” served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received EX M1 Rifle Badge and a WWII Victory Medal of Occupation of Japan. He worked as a machinist for Johns Manville, served as president of OCAW Local Union and a member of the Knights of Columbus Local 3091 of Westwego. He was a baseball coach at the Pard Playground in Marrero and serving his community thru the Knights of Columbus.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy. Marrero, LA on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 10:30 am.
Visitation from 9:30 am with a Rosary being said by the Knights of Columbus at 10:00 am. until Mass time. Interment following in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, LA. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
