Wallace Irvin Mason “Wally” passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on July 23, 2018 at the age of 86 years. Born in San Antonio, Texas on April 26, 1932 to the late Michael and Ora Mason, Wally had been a resident of the Westbank for over 40 years. Wally was a great man who was passionate abouttruck driving, traveling, and spending time with his loving wife and family. He enjoyed bowling with his wife and he was deeply loved by all the kids in his neighborhood who referred to him as “PawPaw Wally”. A generous man who was dedicated to helping anyone in need, he was well known for his easygoing personality, and being a joker. He had a love for old westerns, and riding his bicycle around the neighborhood with his little dog Bubba seated in the basket. Wally was the longest living male in the Mason family, and he is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years, Mrs. Lela Murray-Mason; Four kids, Michaeleen Mason, Wallace I. Mason II, Mark S. Mason, Stacy A. Mason-Vegna; Wally was loved dearly by his three step-children, the late Malinda Adams, Dale Provance and Leona Provance; one faithful canine companion by the name Bubba. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Wally leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends behind to cherish his memory. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services being held at WESTSIDE LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME located at 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Monday July 30, 2018 with a service being held in the chapel at 8:00pm officiated by Pastor Dale Adams from Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will be at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located at 34888 Grantham College Dr. in Slidell, Louisiana on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 11:00am.
