Virginia "Gini" Reyes

Virginia Mays Reyes "Gini", a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend peacefully passed on Saturday July 30, 2022 at the age of 79. Gini was born October 12, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas to the late Hardy Mays and Hilda Lauve. She was the wife of the late John C. Reyes . Loving mother of J. Christopher Reyes (Sally), Darby Reyes Heuer, Jeffrey Jay Reyes and Stephen Michael Reyes. Proud grandmother of Dr. Victoria Reyes Blossman (Justice), Christopher Reyes, Justin Reyes (Kelsey), Lauren Heuer Sprout (Sydney), Christina Reyes, Stephen Reyes, Brittany Reyes, Chase Reyes and great-grandmother of Bailey Harrison. Beautiful sister of Jane Martin Guillory (Michael).

Gini spent her young life in Plaquemine, Louisiana surrounded by family then graduated from St. Anthony High School in Baton Rouge. She retired from West Jefferson General Hospital after 34 years of service as a Licenced Practical Nurse, a resident of Gretna and past resident of Mandeville, Louisiana. She devoted much of her time to the Terrytown Lions Club where she served as a past president and worked on the board of directors. She served as a den mother for Christ the King Catholic School's Boy Scouts troop for several years. Gini also volunteered much of her time to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where she planned and organized social events as well as served as a member of the Bereavement Society.

Gini especially wanted to thank Omni Home Health (nurse Heather) for the loving care and attention that was provided and Our Lady of Wisdom's professional staff for the compassionate care provided to keep her comfortable.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation on Thursday, August 4, 2022 beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM and interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
