Mary Patricia “Trisha” (Brazeal) Chiasson passed away at home on July 29, 2023 at the age of 70. Trisha was born on August 1, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in Gretna and Terrytown. She attended St. Anthony School, George C. Cox Jr. High, West Jefferson High School as a sophomore and was in the first graduating class of L.W. Higgins High School in 1970. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from LSU with a degree in journalism. Early in her career, Trisha worked at Avondale Shipyard in the personnel and insurance department, at the West Side Journal in Port Allen, and for Superior Oil Company in Lafayette. She later edited ophthalmology text books and manuscripts at the LSU Eye Center for Dr. Gholam Peyman, and at Tulane Ophthalmology with Dr. Peyman and Dr. Delmar Caldwell.
Trisha had a passion for reading that she passed on to her daughter and had an incredible expanse of knowledge which she demonstrated by calling out almost every question on Jeopardy correctly. She loved her family a great deal, devoting recent years to caring for her mother. She was most proud to be Mimi to her beloved grandson, Mason. Trisha not only loved and cherished her friendship with her many close friends but was loved and cherished by them as well. This was evident in the outpouring of support she received, especially in her last month.
Trisha, a devoted mother and grandmother, is survived by her daughter Susan (Russ) Danna; grandson Mason Danna; mother Mary R. Brazeal; sisters Ann (Greg) Schleismann and Bobbi (Dave) Hanson; her brother Eddie (Debbie) Brazeal; and former husband Charles Chiasson. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Brazeal; and grandparents John F. Rau Sr., Helen R. Rau, Joseph Brazeal and Stella Brazeal.
Special thanks to Compassus Hospice, New Orleans Neptune Society, and especially to Trisha’s dear friend, Cheryl Choina who cared so lovingly for her in her last months.
