Stanley Ketchler Joseph Helmer Sr. of Lafitte passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the age of 76. He was the husband of the late Barbara Marcel Helmer. He is survived by his children: Gerry “Rooster” Helmer, Kenneth “White” Helmer, Brenda Helmer Arabie, Stanley “Tic-Toc” Helmer Jr., Kevin “Monkey” Helmer, Penny Helmer Sevin, and the late Herbert Helmer; 15 Grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one living brother, Herman Helmer Sr. He was also predeceased by his long time canine companion, Sunshine. He was a lifelong professional fisherman. He was a loving husband and a great father, who was loved by many. His favorite pass time was shooting dice and spending time with his sons on the boats.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Barataria. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
