Ray Steven Barbe

Ray Steven Barbe passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Narcille Ducote Barbe for the past 58 years and the devoted father of Raenell B. Rohlfs (Martin), Mona B. Matherne, Dean J. Barbe (Renee) and Bruce W. Barbe. He was the grandfather of Raegan M. Persons (Paul), Ashley E. Matherne, Lauren A. Rohlfs, Hannah Barbe and Cole Barbe as well as the great-grandfather of Evan, Ian, Worth, Karson, Ceille and Aiden. He was the son of the late James Barbe and Mildred St. Romain Barbe and the brother of Chris Barbe, Iris Gonzalez and Bertha Junda. Also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ray retired from the Unites States Navy, having served 22 years where he received numerous medals, including Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and six Navy Good Conduct Medals. He enjoyed being with his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM and will last until 4:00 PM at which time a Prayer Service will be held.
