Mary Janie McNeely

Mary Janie McNeely, born April 6, 1946, passed from this life to her much deserved Heavenly home, embraced by her Savior Jesus on November 28, 2023. Janie was the daughter of the late Elbert Archie McNeely and Edna Mae Bianchini McNeely. She is survived by her siblings Carla of Saudis, Tennessee, Elbert Archie McNeely, Jr. (Brenda), Michael of Marrero, LA, Carrie Goins (Jerry), and Karen Pieropan of Marrero, LA. Janie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cynthia and brother Richard.

Janie and her sister Carla and Cynthia made U.S Military history in December of 1967 when the three had enlisted and was sworn into the United States Air Force on the same day. She served with dignity and honor. During her enlistment she served in Texas, England, Spain, and Ireland. She returned to Oklahoma where she worked for the Tulsa City and County Health Department until 1987. Janie then moved to Marrero, Louisiana where she worked and retired from LSU School of Nursing in 2022.

Janie was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. Her passion and enjoyment during her retirement was spending time with her nieces and nephews. She had a passion for making jewelry and traveling with her siblings throughout the southeast. She also enjoyed entertaining family and friends during the holiday season.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday December 2, 2023 beginning at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM immediately followed by Military Honors. Interment will be at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 12:30 PM.
