Manuel Salvador Barquero entered into eternal rest, at his home surrounded by his daughters, on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the age of 97. He was born in Nicaragua and lived in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish for 72 years. He was a retired business owner of International Express Company Inc.. He was a member of The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul. He was President of the Mexico Society of New Orleans. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, in his earlier years, and was a recipient of the St. Louis medal.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Myriam Teran Barquero of 44 years. He is survived by his daughters Lizett Barquero Otwell (Tim), Maria Barquero DeJean (Patrick), Myriam Barquero McIntyre (Gerald). Grandfather of Aaron Patrick Norman, Hayden Patrick DeJean, Hunter Patrick DeJean, Holden Patrick DeJean, Hudsyn Mia DeJean, Logan Alexander Murillo, Sofia Alexandra Murillo and his sister Maria Loudres Sauzo. Also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. We would like to give a big thanks to Santa Almaguer for all the care and love she gave him.
Preceded in death by his parents Leopoldo and Pacita Vega Barquero. Brother of the late Leopoldo Antonio, the late Wilfredo Barquero and his sister the late Connie Barrial. Grandfather of the late Isabella Maria Murillo, and the late Mia Lizett Murillo. Uncle of the late Ramsay Navarrete, the late Wilfredo and the late Manuel A Barquero, and the late Gustavo Rodriguez. Brother-in-law of the late Marcel Barrial, the late Rodrigo Rodriguez, the late Pilar Mendieta, and the late Olga Barquero.
A visitation will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Drive Terrytown, Louisiana on Friday, December 27 at 10:00AM to 1:00PM. A Mass will follow at 1:00PM. Interment will be held at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana following Mass.
