Malcolm "Pete" Joseph LeBlanc Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2025. He was surrounded by his beloved wife of 68 years Loretta Rojas Leblanc and his loving family. Father of Malcolm Jr. (Karen), Timothy Sr. (Connie), Pernell Sr. (Mary), and Shane (Dana). Malcolm was born on December 30, 1937, to the late Ignace and Lillian LeBlanc. He is survived by his siblings Gerald (Brenda), Melroy (Loretta), and Lydia. Preceded in death by siblings Lorilei, Lou Ella, Mary, and Gary Sr.
Malcolm grew up a young fisherman in the Lafitte community, retiring from shrimping at the age of 41 and continuing his love for the business as a trawl net repairman. He had a passion for playing pool, bike riding and pirogue racing. Throughout his years his love and competitive spirit for pirogue racing led him to win numerous titles. The community has recognized his devotion to the sport and gave him the legendary title of being Lafitte's "Bayou Champ". Malcolm was a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church. His memory and stories will live on through his loving grandchildren, Nicole (Louis), Malcolm III (Mallory), Brian Jr., Timothy Jr. (Tina), Matthew Sr. (Simone), Celina (Marc), Lacie (David), Pernell Jr., Candia (Cody), Shaney (Chad), Alayne (Myles), and Cameron; 24 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Malcolm was loved by many. His memory will forever be cherished. May he Rest in Peace.
A Visitation for Malcolm will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte, Louisiana beginning at 9:30 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Malcolm will be laid to rest at St. Pius X Mausoleum in Crown Point, Louisiana following the services.
