God has called our beloved Loretta home to Heaven. She has left our hearts broken too soon at the age of 82. If you ever had the opportunity to meet Loretta in person, you would never forget her bubbly personality. Her big smile, decorated with bright red lipstick, always left an impression on your cheek. You could hear her before you saw her as she was an ahead of her time, fashionista decorated in head to toe jewelry, especially those famous bangle bracelets.
She is survived by her son, Gregg Michael Vegas (Rhonda Hart Vegas), her sister Cheryl Manfre Arceneaux (Cornel John Arceneaux), her partner of 31 years, Richard Edward Broussard, her niece Candace Arceneaux LaPLace (Stuart LaPlace), her nephew Chandler Patrick Arceneaux (Natalie Parbhoo), and her five great nieces and her great nephew.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Augustan and Ursula Naquin Gros, her paternal grandparents Gregorio and Sarah Ditto Monfrey, her father Angelo Raymond Manfre, her mother Marcella Gros Manfre, and her niece Cathryn Leigh Arceneaux. She was greeted at the pearly gates by her beloved dog Gumbo.
Loretta was born in New Orleans and resided in Westwego. She attended elementary school at Westwego Elementary and graduated from West Jefferson High. Loratta then attended Soule’ business school where she graduated at the top of her class in nine months. She was placed with the FBI and stayed until she was pregnant with her son Gregg.
Through the years after retiring from the FBI, Loretta worked in banking. She retired from Marrero Land after 40 plus years of loyalty and service as the executive secretary to the owner and vice president of Marrero Land.
Loretta was an avid reader, loved to bowl, and in her younger years you could often find her on a golf course in her free time. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes and she collected anything with roosters. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved son Gregg and his wife Rhonda and loved to travel with her partner Richard and would often tell about the adventures on the cruises they took together. Loretta had so much energy, so much life, and would have lived forever if she could. While we are all broken, we know she has been made whole again and is smiling down on us from heaven.
Visitation will take place at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana 70072, on Saturday, April 5th from 9:30 am till 11:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass.
