Joseph Mendoza Fernandez III of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Joseph M. Fernandez, Jr. and Marguerite Gehbauer Malouse. Joseph was married to Norma Duffy Fernandez for over 67 loving years. Father of Stephen Fernandez, Donna Fernandez Reichenau (Harry), and Norma Thibodaux. Proud Paw of Nick Fernandez, James Thibodaux, and Matthew Reichenau (Sofia), and great grandfather of Andie Fernandez, Alaysia Thibodaux, Deme and Matalie Reichenau. Brother of Glenn Fernandez, the late Lorenzo Fernandez (Pat), the late Dolores Fernandez, the late Elise Simone (the late Frank), and Jeannie Schmitt (Fred). Joseph is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Joseph served a lifelong career in law enforcement with both the New Orleans Police Department and retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. After retirement, Joseph was able to enjoy his hobbies of fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
