Jerry Joseph Thibodeaux, 69, devoted, loving husband of Rhonda Newby Thibodeaux for 46 years, passed away peacefully on August 22nd, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Loving Father of Tara Pierce (Christian) and Tiffanie Chiasson (Troy). Dedicated Pawsie to Madison (Chandler), Mackenzie, Amelia, and Peyton, who were his life. Jerry was also survived by a number of relatives, cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Jerry retired from Jefferson Parish Drainage with 34 years of service, where he made lifelong friends, including Harvey, Kevin, Brian, Janis and more. He also had a lawncare business for several years. He loved his customers, Ms. Hilda, Ms. Suzie, Ms. Marlene, Mr. Jerry, Mr. Buddy, and many more as family.
He and his best friend, Dave, shared their love for old cars by going to car shows and cruise nights, where he made great friends.
Along the way, Jerry and Rhonda loved camping with their family, Tennessee vacations, traveling, and listening to music. They enjoyed following different bands where they developed many friendships over the years. They loved exploring the backroads of Louisiana and Mississippi and little hole-in-the-walls where Jerry enjoyed being part-time roadie for Junior and Sumtin' Sneaky.
Thanks to Father Stephen Leake for comforting Jerry and his family in prayer at their home. Also, thanks to Dr. Scott Sonnier and the Oncology department, the infusion center nurses, and the fifth floor at Touro Infirmary. Special thanks to Mechy Ghivizzani and Heart of Hospice for their compassion and care. Many thanks to those who spent time with him and his family making memories during our precious time with him.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories and condolences beginning at 10:00AM until the Mass time.
