Jerry Joseph Hargis

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carolyn Des Roches Hargis and six of his children, Ellen Cheramie, Cathy Vallery (Kirk) Wendy Sheeren (Cyril), Jeffrey Hargis (Denise), Mark Hargis and Bobby Hargis (Tricia) along with 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Son of the late Ludevine Callegan Hargis and Emile Hargis.

Preceded in death by one son (Kevin Hargis) and one granddaughter along with his three brothers and one sister.

He was a lifelong resident of Marrero Louisiana and was a kind and generous soul who always tried to help anyone he met.

He proudly served in the US Army in an artillery brigade during the Korean conflict.

He was a self educated self made man who after being a machinist at Avondale for 25 years he went on to own and operate five laundromats for over 20 years.

He loved fishing & trawling and being on the water.

He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

There will be a memorial mass on July 24, 2021 at 2 PM at Visitation of our Lady church, 3500 Ames Blvd., Marrero, LA 70072.

Visitation for family and friends from 1 to 2 in the church prior to mass.
