

Jennifer "JJ" Joan Dominic Jackson was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on September 4, 1955 to Valcour Dominic, Sr. and Marilyn R. Dominic. Sadly at 68, Ms. Jackson of Harvey, Louisiana passed away in the Jo Ellen Smith Living Center after a lengthy battle with Dementia on the morning of July 29, 2024.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Valcour Dominic Sr. and Marilyn R. Dominic, her brother Charles Johnson (Delores), sister Valerie Dominic Curtis (Patrick) and is survived by her three loving siblings, Glenda Dominic Wilson (Larry - Deceased) of Harvey, Louisiana, Valcour Dominic Jr. (Shelitha-Deceased) of Harvey, Louisiana, and Javanda L. Dominic of Harvey, Louisiana. JJ, as she was called by her family and friends, also leaves behind six nieces, five nephews, five great nieces, seven great nephews, one great-great niece, one great-great nephew and her best friend and "Gal Pal", Ingrid Johnson. Everyone loved JJ and will miss her dearly.
JJ graduated in 1972 from L.W. Higgins High School, and in 1995 she completed a course in Medical Terminology from the University of Texas Medical Branch and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, Louisiana. JJ is also a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Sorority.
JJ worked for the Jefferson Parish Department of Accounting where she retired. Team of Heart Specialist in Marrero, Louisiana, University of Texas Medical Branch and the Department of Welfare for the State of Louisiana.
Putting puzzles together, completing number and word puzzle books and early RPG video games were some of JJ's hobbies, but her ultimate passion was watching Wheel of Fortune and Westerns on television, going to the casino, and NFL football. Her favorite football teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers.
What JJ enjoyed most when not engaged in her favorite hobbies was spending time with her family and friends. She loved a girls night with her sisters and girl friends, playing card games or poker keno. She also loved to cook and was known as the "Queen of the Barbeque Grill". Back in the day she would always be found in the backyard cooking on the grill with a cold 16 ounce can of Budweiser or a Coca-Cola in one hand and her Kool cigarette in the other laughing and enjoying the company of all who stopped by for a good meal.
The family would like to give their most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the staff members of Jo Ellen Smith Living Center who cared for their loved one and for treating her with dignity and respect while she was suffering from Dementia. Sincere thanks to the Anvoi Pallative & Hospice Care for caring for JJ at the end of her long journey in this life. Thank you to all her family and friends for being a part of the life and Homegoing Celebration for Jennifer "JJ" Joan Dominic Jackson.
To honor her memory a visitation for Jennifer "JJ" will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 9:30 AM until the service time at 11:00 AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072.
