Janet Ann Plaisance Bruce

Janet Ann Plaisance Bruce, age 83, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025 with her husband of 66 years by her side. Born on January 9th, 1942 in Gheens, Louisiana. She lived full of travel, shopping, crafting, and building a family that would go from three children to eleven grandchildren (with four bonus grandchildren) to eleven great grandchildren. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend she touched many lives with her unwavering love. The world became more beautiful because of her.

That beauty took many forms from gardening to drawings of flowers, her imagination and great taste as well as skill was remarked upon by all she met. Countless family events and other special occasions were hosted at the Bruce house. She made everyone feel welcomed and many guests often left with one of her drawing or a plant clipping. Even dementia couldn't dull her radiance sense of style or the graceful strength of her presence.

She is survived in this life by her devoted husband, Norris Bruce, and her two loving daughters Joan Combel (Kevin) and Lisa Larsen (Kurt). She was a proud grandmother to her cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Larsen, Tiffany Vega-Dermody, Allison Vega Willey, Mindy Larsen Wesp, Megan Bruce, Emily Combel Haines, Gavin Bruce, Kirsten Larsen Lerick, Christopher Combel, Joshua Combel, and Lindsey Bruce; along her great grandchildren Alexander Dermody, Ashton Larsen, Kahlan Dermody, Damon Kidwell, Holden Kidwell, Hannah Larsen, Valerie Wesp, Owen Wesp, Evangeline Willey, Charlotte Lerick, and Arizona Willey.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Bruce, her parents: John and Lelia, and her sisters: Myrtle, Bertha, and Jean.

Her Mass Funeral will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the Mass time. She will be laid to rest following the Mass at Westlawn Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana.
